FAQs
-
All of them. It directs the reader to an always-updated webpage for the specifics of each brand, but the basics of how to use these biosensors work across all brands.
-
Yes. This is the goal of the book. Because so many different things impact blood sugar, it can still be tricky to interpret. But this book provides a guide to realistic goals and a guide to what “normal” blood sugar looks like.
It also teaches them how to use the free digital platforms to share data with you. (You can read those sections too.)
-
No. While it is a vital tool for people with type 2 diabetes, it provides guidance to individuals with prediabetes and those seeking to prevent chronic disease.
This book also explicitly states that it is not written for type 1 diabetes. While some people with T1D will find themselves in need of some of these strategies, the book urges them to continue working with their diabetes educator.
-
Far from it. It is a tool for you to give your patients so they can do the between-appointment work and come back with new insights. It seeks to make them a more engaged member of their healthcare team.

You’ll no-doubt get ideas when you read it. But I imagine you meeting to recommend everyone pick up two CGMs and getting the baseline labs done at the start, then reading and discussing weekly about topics such as insulin resistance, the role of stress, the noise-canceling diet (done for a week or 2), finding your glucotype, and which hacks work best. Finally, order follow-up labs at the 3-month mark. Patients can follow up 1:1 as needed.
-
Yes. It primarily focuses on a set of basic metrics that are the most accessible. This includes triglycerides, fasting insulin, and waist circumference. Other labs are discussed as helpful, but the book attempts to keep the lab requirements minimal.
-
No. In fact, the book advocates short-term use of the CGM in a strategic fashion in order to save money. It then makes recommendations for ongoing or periodic use based on individual needs.

Karen Kennedy is licensed as a certified nutritionist, is board-certified in integrative and functional nutrition, and is an educator and mentor who has helped hundreds of people improve their blood sugar levels, reverse prediabetes, and better manage type 2 diabetes without rigid diets or guesswork.
Karen specializes in using Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) as a practical learning and assessment tool, helping people understand how their body responds to food, stress, sleep, exercise, and everyday life. Her work bridges the gap between data and real life, turning confusing numbers into clear, actionable insights people can actually use.
Through her group programs, workshops, and professional trainings, Karen not only supports individuals on their own blood sugar journey, but also trains other healthcare practitioners to use her method with their clients and patients. Her goal is simple but powerful: to make blood sugar education accessible, understandable, and empowering for everyone.
At the heart of everything Karen does is a belief that people deserve to understand their own bodies. When individuals are equipped with the right tools and knowledge, they become confident decision-makers and stronger partners with their health care team.
