2023 Continuous Glucose Monitor Cost

There have been some price changes recently in the direct-to-consumer continuous glucose monitor (CGM) world. Here’s a brief recap of the top 4 companies and their prices as of January 2023.

Continuous Glucose Monitor cost comparison of Nutrisense, Signos, LEVELS and Real Food Matters.

Nutrisense just raised their prices

Nutrisense raised their rates this week. They use a FreeStyle Libre CGM and users get one month of free dietitian support no matter which program they purchase. The price includes the cost of your CGM sensor and you get use of their app. They have a nice app and my sources tell me that they have a really nice platform.

Signos Prices for CGM Use

Signos might be the company you haven’t heard of. They offer a similar service as Nutrisense with a few differences. Signos uses a Dexcom CGM. They are also the only platform that offers a provider dashboard where a provider can purchase “seats” for their patients and have access to their data. The cost for this is similar to those seen here. It’s important to note that if you have diabetes of any type, you cannot use SIGNOS as they are conducting research using the data of their users (which I’m looking forward to seeing!)

LEVELS price structure is different

LEVELS does things a little differently than the first two. They have an initial price to set you up with your first month of CGM sensors and it includes a 1-year membership to their platform which has a lot of nice features and resources. Then you can stop and start as you like for that year paying $199 for a 4-week supply of sensors. They seem to have the option of either the FreeStyle Libre or the Dexcom.

Real Food Matters offers CGM services with a functional nutritionist

Real Food Matters (that’s us!) structures things differently again. We offer an a la carte service so you can put together the level of service you need when you need it. Our programs are customized for each person based on their needs. We are also unique in that we help you get a prescription from your provider so you can purchase your CGM sensors directly from your pharmacy. In the long run, this can save you money and it loops your provider in. Another benefit of this service is you can share your CGM data with any of your providers. Nutritionist Karen Kennedy provides in-depth nutrition education and either 1:1 or group coaching calls to help you interpret your data and optimize your blood sugar. To any of our programs, you can tack on $100 CGM coaching calls and work 1:1 with a board-certified integrative and functional nutritionist. In March 2023, we’ll also be rolling out a mid-priced and self-paced program with all of the set-up instructions and nutrition education. Learn more about our CGM services HERE.

Choose the type of service which best fits your needs not the cheapest CGM

If you are interested in getting a peek under the hood to optimize your blood glucose levels, all of these companies provide excellent services. You will learn what works and what doesn't. Some combination of AI and a dietary professional will help you interpret your data and make suggestions. Choose the type of service which best fits your needs.
